TIRANA, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Albanian authorities will launch a fresh crackdown on the country's informal economy starting from Oct. 1, said Albanian finance minister Arben Ahmetaj Thursday at a press conference here.
According to Ahmetaj, the Albanian tax and customs administration and labor inspectorate will work together in a coordinated effort towards ending the illegal economy.
He said authorities had already drafted the strategy and policies needed to tackle the grey economy.
The head of public finances highlighted that one of the main goals of the second mandate of socialist government was formalizing the economy.
Ahmetaj told reporters there would be zero tolerance when it came to fiscal evasion.
The first anti-informality operation started in the first year of Edi Rama's first government around five years ago.
