WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump's approval rating ticked up for first time since February with the help of a bipartisan deal on hurricane relief and keeping the government open for three months, a poll said.

Trump's job-approval rating inched up to 43 percent, three points higher than where it was in August, according to the NBC/WSJ poll released Thursday.

Moreover, as many as 71 percent of Americans supported his deal with Democrats' leaders in Congress on their deal to deliver hurricane relief while keeping the government open until December.

However, only 33 percent of respondents believed Trump has accomplished a "great deal" as president, versus 66 percent who said he has accomplished "only some" or "very little".

In comparison, just 36 percent of Republican voters said they were satisfied with their party's congressional leaders, while 59 percent were dissatisfied.

The poll, conducted between Sept. 14 and 18, asked respondents to approve or disapprove of Trump's handling of 11 events and actions in his 8-month presidency.

Earlier this month, Trump reached a deal with Democratic leaders to raise the federal government's debt limit and fund the government through December 15, part of a package that included disaster aid as Hurricane Irma approached Florida and as Texas picked up the pieces after the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
