BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese courts solved 12.67 million cases in 2017 as of the end of August, up by 13.6 percent year on year, the Supreme People's Court (SPC) has said.

A total of 15.89 million cases were received by courts across the country during the eight-month period, a 15.7-percent increase on a yearly basis, while 6.37 million remained unresolved, according to the SPC.

The SPC also issued a circular on Tuesday asking courts at all levels to continue to focus on law enforcement and case-handling for the rest of the year.

The circular underlined consistent efforts in pushing forward reform in the judicial system, the implementation of the judicial accountability system, as well as reform of the operation system for judicial authority.

Moreover, courts should pay close attention to case-filing management in order to prevent major problems, such as deliberately raising the threshold for filing cases, delays in filing and refusing to receive cases ahead of schedule at the end of the year, the SPC said in the circular.
