6.1-magnitude quake hits 256km W of Auckland Island, New Zealand -- USGS

HONG KONG, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted 256 km W of Auckland Island, New Zealand at 01:43:30 GMT on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 50.371 degrees south latitude and 162.5497 degrees east longitude.
