TRIPOLI, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The bodies of five foreign workers kidnapped in Libya two years ago were found in the eastern city of Derna, local media reported Tuesday.

Libya's Shura council of the port city Derna said in a statement on Monday that the five foreign workers were found following the defeat of IS, when soldiers searched west of Derna city.

The statement added that the five oilfield workers were handcuffed.

"Upon searching IS equipment, a laptop computer was found belonging to a Czech national working in Ghani oilfield," said the statement.

The initial reports said that altogether nine were abducted by IS, including the Czech worker.

The Shura council of Derna is a coalition of armed militias accused by the eastern-based army of being loyal to al-Qaida. The army has been besieging Derna for years. Enditem
