British stocks up 0.30 pct Tuesday

LONDON, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.30 percent, or 21.97 points, to close at 7,275.25 points.

Marks & Spencer Group, a British clothing and food retailer, soared 3.47 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. International Consolidated Airlines Group and J Sainsbury increased by 2.62 percent and 2.57 percent respectively.

The multinational travel and tourism company TUI was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.20 percent. Carnival, a cruise company, dropped 1.61 percent, and Antofagasta, a Chilean mining group, fell 1.42 percent. Enditem
