KATHMANDU, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Nepal on Tuesday celebrated the second anniversary of the promulgation of its new constitution as a national festival.

A special function was organized to mark the Constitution Day at the Nepal Army pavilion in Kathmandu, attended by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, among others.

The new national statute named "Nepal Constitution-2072" was promulgated by then President Dr Ram Baran Yadav. It is the first constitution in the country to have been drafted by the people's representatives, which features 35 parts, 308 articles and nine schedules.

The constitution has been regarded as an important document, guaranteeing the rights of people of all languages, and religion, women, indigenous nationalities, minorities and others.
