HANOI -- Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan said Tuesday that the stable and healthy development of Sino-Vietnamese relations is conducive to the reform and opening up of the two countries.

KABUL -- More than 250,000 Afghans have been displaced so far this year by conflicts and prolonged insurgency, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Tuesday.

TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is gearing up to dissolve the lower house of parliament and call a snap general election, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary General Toshihiro Nikai confirmed on Tuesday.

NEW DELHI -- A major fire broke out at a school in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Tuesday, police said.
