TALUQAN, Afghanistan, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Police have arrested a police officer on charge of shifting a Taliban commander from a war affected area to safer place in Takhar province, provincial police spokesman Abdul Khalil Asir said Tuesday.
"A police officer was attempting to shift Taliban commander Mawlawi Lal from Khawjaghar district to Yangi Qala district in his car but fortunately was identified and arrested by police in a checkpoint on Monday," Asir told Xinhua.
Police have also recovered some documents that indicate Mawlawi Lal involvements in subversive activities, the official said.
Taliban militants have not commented.
