BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Academics shared insights on Chinese culture and the cohesion of the Chinese nation at a forum held Saturday to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Culture Institute (CCI).

Attendees also discussed specific topics ranging from the implementation of the national anthem law in Hong Kong to the principle of "one country, two systems."

Patrick Ho Chi-Ping, executive deputy chairman and secretary general of the China Energy Fund Committee, said that Hong Kong's culture should be commensurate with its economic status, adding that more should be done to help improve the youngsters' recognition on Chinese culture.

Li Yihu, head of the institute of Taiwan studies at Peking University, called for more efforts to promote cross-Strait cultural exchange and social integration.

The forum drew more than 400 participants from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the CCI.

The CCI is committed to carrying out research on Chinese culture and national conditions and providing education services for compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese.
