PODGORICA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Mayors and representatives of 17 capital cities of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) agreed here on Friday to cooperate on development of green cities, boost artistic exchange and create networks for institutional cooperation in areas of trade, culture and tourism.

Mayors of China and CEEC gathered here to discuss ideas and negotiate joint projects under the framework of the 16+1 mechanism, a platform for cooperation between China and 16 Central and Eastern European countries.

In a joint declaration adopted on Friday, mayors harmonized principles and priorities with an aim to improve cooperation between capitals of 16 countries and Beijing even further, with a focus on the advancement of their win-win cooperation in areas of culture, tourism, education, sports and traditional Chinese medicine.

Moreover, mayors of 17 capital cities agreed to continue promoting the development of "green cities" by improving energy efficiency and promoting "green tourism" as well as establishing a dialogue over the relevant topics such as the waste water management, construction of green surfaces, control of air pollution, public transport and other areas.

The declaration reads that artistic groups from Beijing will continue to present themselves in the capitals of CEEC, while these countries will also have the opportunity to perform in Beijing.
