RIYADH, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Saudi-led coalition announced on Thursday the death of a Saudi pilot when his aircraft crashed in Abyan area in Yemen, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The spokesman for the forces of coalition, Col. Turki Al Maliki said that incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. (1630 GMT) on Wednesday.

The aircraft of Saudi Royal Air Forces faced a technical failure while carrying out one of the operational tasks to support the war against Al-Qaida terrorist organization.

The coalition announced last month that one of its helicopters had to execute an emergency landing in the territories under the control of the Yemeni government, while its crew suffered minor injuries.
