PARIS, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- French shares advanced on Wednesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.16 percent, or 8.58 points, to close at 5,217.59 points.
A total of 21 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.
French multinational mass media conglomerate Vivendi advanced 2.78 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. The specialist in energy management and automation Schneider rose 1.72 percent. French multinational information technology consulting corporation Capgemini gained 1.41 percent.
Essilor, French company that produces ophthalmic lenses along with ophthalmic optical equipment, went down by 2.33 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French international tire producer Michelin edged down 2.05 percent. French global leader in quality of life service Sodexo lost 1.46 percent. Enditem
