Namibia off to flying start in women's regional soccer tournament

WINDHOEK, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Namibia started its football campaign with a 4-0 win over Botswana in its Group C opener of the 2017 Cosafa Women Championship on Wednesday morning in Zimbabwe.

The championship is underway in Zimbabwe's second capital city Bulawayo and is scheduled to run from Sept. 13 to 24. The 'Brave Gladiators' as the Namibians are known, are in Group C alongside Botswana, Lesotho and South Africa.

According to the Namibian Football Association, two goals from Vistorine Shangulae and one each from Zenatha Coleman and Anna Shikusho managed to sink the Botswana team.

The championship is an international football tournament for national teams organised by Cosafa.

In their next encounters, the Brave Gladiators will lock horns with South Africa on Friday, followed by a clash with Lesotho on Sept. 17 in Bulawayo.
