LONDON, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.17 percent, or 12.90 points, to close at 7,400.69 points.
Ashtead Group, a British industrial equipment rental company, soared 4.45 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Barclays and Royal Bank of Scotland Group increased by 2.52 percent and 2.42 percent, respectively.
The global gold mining business Randgold Resources was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.94 percent. Fresnillo, the major multinational metal company, dropped 2.30 percent. Persimmon, a British housebuilding company, fell 2.04 percent. Enditem
