ANKARA, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least 40 people, including 23 children, were poisoned and hospitalized late Monday after children opened an industrial drum containing unknown chemicals in Turkey's southeastern Siirt province, Dogan News Agency reported.
When several children brought a chemical drum found outside the village and opened it by accident, local residents felt uncomfortable and some showed vomiting and nausea.
The patients were all immediately taken to Siirt State Hospital for treatment, and none of them are in life threats, the Siirt Province Governor office said in a written statement.
