U.S. stocks jump as Irma damage less than expected

NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks closed sharply higher on Monday, with all three major indices rising over 1 percent, as Hurricane Irma's damage appeared to be less than the market had expected.

The Dow gained 1.19 percent, and the S&P 500 rose 1.08 percent, while the Nasdaq increased 1.13 percent.
