2 shot at Cambridge Carnival in Boston, suspect in custody

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- A suspect has been arrested after two people were shot late Sunday afternoon at the Cambridge Carnival in Boston, the United States, police at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) said.

"Shooting reported at 200 Tech Square. Police responding. Stay clear of the area. If nearby, shelter indoors," MIT police tweeted at about 4:48 p.m. (2048 GMT).

Less than 20 minutes later, the police tweeted the suspect has been taken into custody. A firearm was also recovered from the scene.

The victims are believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries to their lower bodies, according to the authorities.

The suspect, identified as Michael Coleman, aged 23, will face charges, said Cambridge police.

Cambridge and MIT police are investigating the shooting. The carnival has been shut down following the accident.
