BELGRADE, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The parliament of Kosovo has elected a new government on Saturday with Ramush Haradinaj, former leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army, as government head with 61 out of 120 MP votes.
Only 62 MPs in the parliament of 120 were present at the voting.
According to the press release of the parliament, there were no counter votes as the MPs of opposition parties led by Vetevendosje (Self-Determination) and the coalition around the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) left the hall refusing to vote, while one MP abstained from voting.
Kosovo is a southern province of Serbia, which unilaterally declared independence in 2008. Serbia refuses to recognize the independence.
