WASHINGTON, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania on Wednesday donated one million U.S. dollars to help with relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey.

The White House said in a statement that the money was a "personal donation," but the White House has stopped short of clarifying whether the money was from Trump's own purse or from the Trump organization.

The money will be distributed among 12 organizations, ranging from 100,000 dollars to 25,000 dollars each.

Reach Out America, Red Cross and Salvation Army are the top three recipients for Trump's donation.
