DUBAI, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Louvre plans to open branch in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, on Nov. 11, UAE state news agency WAM reported Wednesday.

It is the first museum in the Arab world that focuses on shared human stories across civilizations and cultures, WAM said.

Visitors will be able to walk along promenades overlooking the sea beneath the museum's 180-meter dome comprised of almost 8,000 unique metal stars set in a complex geometric pattern.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi will offer a collection of diversified artworks loaned by 13 French cultural institutions.

The opening celebrations will include a wide range of public programs, including symposia, performances, concerts, dances and visual arts by renowned contemporary and classical artists, WAM reported.

"The opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi on 11th November 2017 will be a milestone in the development of the cooperation between the UAE and France, ten years after the signing of the intergovernmental agreement," French Minister of Culture Francoise Nyssen said Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.
