Poland, Baltic States discuss EU cyber security in Warsaw

WARSAW, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The prime ministers of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and the Estonian ambassador met here on Tuesday to talk on security and current issues of the European Union (EU).

Speaking at a joint press conference, Polish PM Beata Szydlo said that all the countries were experienced in hybrid threats and cyber attacks, but cooperation between the countries still need to be enhanced.

"Poland believes it is necessary to consolidate cooperation in cyber security in EU and on the scale of region," Szydlo stressed.

Lithuanian PM Saulius Skvernelis said that EU should be more engaged in the defense and ought to have more responsibility in security.

Skvernelis emphasized that it was important to strengthen cooperation between the Baltic States and Poland.

Tuesday's meeting also focused on the current EU issues, including the development of the single market and the posted-workers issue.

The Estonian PM, who was unable to join this meeting because of internal matters, was replaced by Estonian ambassador to Poland Harri Tiido.
