ANKARA, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday held telephone conversation with Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi over the ongoing humanitarian crisis involving Rohingya Muslims fleeing violence in the Rakhine state.

Erdogan said that escalating in human rights violations against Rohingya Muslims causes great concern in the world and Muslim countries, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

In the phone call, Erdogan vowed to support efforts to end the violence; the two leaders also discussed solutions to the crisis and means to deliver humanitarian aid to the region.

On Monday, Erdogan told reporters in Istanbul that he would raise the issue at the UN General Assembly in New York on Sept. 19.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will travel to neighboring Bangladesh Wednesday on Rohingya refugees issue, a Foreign Ministry official said.

Media reports said violence erupted in Myanmar's Rakhine state on Aug. 25 when security forces launched an operation against the Rohingya Muslim community.

According to the UN on Tuesday, 123,600 Rohingya Muslims had crossed into Bangladesh since the crackdown began.
