KIEV, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- The investigation into the murder of a former Russian lawmaker in Kiev in March this year is almost completed, Ukraine's senior prosecutor said on Monday.
"The case is practically solved, and its results will be revealed to the public once the interest of the investigation allows," Deputy Prosecutor General Eugene Enin told a local media outlet "Insider."
Denis Voronenkov, a former lawmaker of the Russian State Duma, or the lower house of parliament, was killed on March 23, when a gunman fired several shots at him in downtown Kiev.
The attacker was wounded in the shooting by Voronenkov's bodyguard and died later in the hospital.
In June, Ukrainian law enforcement authorities said they have arrested one of the two suspects that they believe are linked to the murder.
Voronenkov served as a lawmaker from the Communist Party in the Russian State Duma between 2011 and 2016. In December 2016, he was given Ukrainian citizenship and moved to Kiev.
