ATHENS, Sept. 1 (Xinhua)-- An earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted Rhodes island in the eastern Mediterranean on Friday, the Geodynamic Institute of the Athens Observatory said.
No injuries or extensive damages have been reported by local authorities so far, according to Greek national news agency AMNA.
The tremor's epicenter was located in the sea area southeast of the city of Rhodes at about 79 kilometers depth, according to the institute's director of research Gerasimos Chouliaras.
