HANOI, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Up to 85,357 enterprises with total registered capital of 822,100 billion Vietnamese dong (nearly 36.4 billion U.S. dollars) were set up in Vietnam between January and August.
Of the new firms, 36 percent involved in wholesales and retails, 12.9 percent in construction, 12.9 percent in manufacturing and processing industries, 7.5 percent in science, technology and consulting services, among others, Vietnam's General Statistics Office said on Tuesday.
During the eight-month period, 19,154 firms, which had temporarily ceased operations due to different difficulties, resumed their activities, up 2.5 percent.
Meanwhile, 7,754 enterprises were dissolved, up 3.7 percent. Of the dissolved businesses, 92.2 percent had capital of below 10 billion Vietnamese dong.
