CHICAGO, Aug.28 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were killed and 25 others were wounded across Chicago from Friday afternoon to early Monday.
In a span of just nine hours from late Friday to early Saturday, three people were killed and eight others were wounded, according to the Chicago police.
So far this year, Chicago has reported 462 homicides, slightly down from the record 491 homicides registered by the same time last year, data collected by Chicago Tribune shows.
Meanwhile, the number of shooting victims reported by Sunday this year stands at 2,498 people, down 11.45 percent from the 2,821 people reported the same period last year.
Chicago has the highest murder toll in the cities of the United States over the past two decades.
