DPRK missile appears to have flown over Japan: Japanese gov't, local media

TOKYO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired a missile early Tuesday morning that appears to have flown over Japan, the government here stated and Japanese media reported.

The government made the announcement via its J-Alert system, which is a satellite based system that allows authorities to quickly broadcast alerts to local media.
