TIANJIN, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Hunan dominated the first day competitions of the weightlifting tournament by taking the two gold medals on offer at the 13th National Games here on Monday.

Hou Zhihui and Liao Qiuyun won the gold medals in women's 48kg and 53kg respectively.

Hou returned to her best form after narrowly missing the Rio Olympics in 2016 but proving herself in Tianjin Monday evening. The 20-year-old had her normal play in snatch, finishing at 93kg, while Zhang Rong of Fujian led the event at 95kg.

Then, Hou grasped her moments by lifting 115kg in jerk - which was 7 kilos more than Zhang, helping her win the title.

Zeng Mei of Sichuan clinched silver at 204kg, and the bronze was collected by Zhang at 203kg.

Hunan province representative Liao made an amazing lift in her second attempt, jerking 127kg for a winning total of 222kg, just one kilo more than Li Yajun. Chen Yanling of Guangdong collected the bronze at 217kg.
