Slovak International Air Fest kicks off in Sliac

BRATISLAVA, Aug.26 (Xinhua) -- The Slovak International Air Fest (SIAF) kicked off in Sliac,central Slovakia,on Saturday.

On the exhibition there were B-52 and B1 American bomber and Airbus 380, which were present for the first time in Slovakia.

Slovak Defence Minister Peter Gajdos said that visitors can see for the first time in Slovakia UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters purchased by the Slovak Military Forces.

"We're keeping our promise to build modern armed forces that will fulfil the task of benefiting the citizens of the Slovak Republic," stressed Gajdos.

Nearly 100,000 visitors also enjoyed the air show of the Gripen supersonic jet fighter by the Czech Air Force.

SIAF and Slovak Aviation Agency director Hubert Stoksa pointed out that this year's international air fest was unique in terms of the number of performers and showcased aircraft.

"Thanks to the confirmed participation of foreign aerobatic groups and the excellent aircraft, SIAF can be compared to the world's biggest aviation fest," stressed Stoksa.

SIAF 2017 is organised by the Slovak Aviation Agency. The main programme partner is the Slovak Defence Ministry.
