JAKARTA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Metal industry in Indonesia recorded a 7.5 percent growth from April to June, the highest expansion in the sector of manufacture in the country, a senior government official said here on Thursday.
Director General of Metal, Machinery, Mode of Transportation and Electronics of Industry Ministry I Gusti Putu Suryawirawan urged consumers to use more domestic manufactured metal products.
"Growth momentum of metal industry must be continuously maintained or accelerated at a faster pace, by creating a favorable climate for business for investors," he said.
To further develop the industry, the director said that the country needs to boost competitiveness on the industry.
A huge reserve of raw materials must be used better to manufacture products with a better quality, he added.
