LUSAKA, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda on Tuesday named a 31-member provisional team that will face Algeria in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The Chipolopolo will face Algeria at home on Sept. 3, 2017 for the first leg and then fly out to Algeria for the second leg three days later.
The trainer has included seven players from the under-20 national soccer after their exploits at the World Cup tournament in South Korea and winning the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations title, according to a statement released by the country's soccer governing body.
Veteran goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene will captain the team in the absence of Rainford Kalaba who is suspended after having accumulated two yellow cards.
Zambia is in Group B together with Nigeria, Cameroon and Algeria. The Chipolopolo lost 1-2 to Nigeria in the first game played in October.
