German shares gain 1.35 pct Tuesday

FRANKFURT, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 163.35 points, or 1.35 percent, to close at 12,229.34 points.

German multinational chemical firm Linde won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.85 percent. European health care company Fresenius SE and German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer rose by 2.83 percent and 2.33 percent respectively.

German industrial giant Thyssenkrupp lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 0.23 percent. Banking and financial services provider Commerzbank went down by 0.13 percent.

Automotive manufacturer Daimler was the most-traded share, with a turnover of 240.99 million euros (283.66 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
