PARIS, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Tuesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.87 percent, or 44.27 points, to close at 5,131.86 points.
A total of 38 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.
Multinational consulting group Capgemini advanced 2.44 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French multinational communication group Vivendi rose 1.87 percent, and French international tire company Michelin gained 1.71 percent.
French financial group Soiete Generale went down by 0.36 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French distilled beverages producer Pernod Ricard lost 0.34 percent. Enditem
