BEIRUT, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Monday highlighted the importance of dialogue and negotiations in ending the Syrian crisis.

Aoun made the remarks in a statement after his meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Jaber Ansari, accompanied by Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali.

The president welcomed "the efforts exerted to reach peaceful solutions that would restore stability and security to the unrest-swept Arab countries."

"The national unanimity over the Lebanese army in its war against terrorism will soon lead to the end of the terrorists' presence on the outskirts at the northeastern borders," said Aoun.

He further hailed the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Iran, stressing his keenness on bolstering the ties in all fields. Aoun also promised to accept the official invitation to visit Tehran.

Ansari arrived in Lebanon on Monday for an official visit.
