TIRANA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Citizens in Albania spend less than everyone else in the region on healthcare services, the latest report published by Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) showed Monday.

The expenses per capita in healthcare in Albania are 614 U.S. dollars, ranking the last country in the region, report showed.

The report also unveiled that compared to the countries of the region Albania has also the lowest expenses as percentage of GDP, namely 2.9 percent.

But at a time when Albanians spend less on healthcare, life expectancy in the country continues to be high, around 78 years and 9 months. Such age ranks Albania 27th in the OECDs list.

Albania also has 1.1 doctors for 1,000 inhabitants which is a very low level compared to regional countries where that are 3.4 doctors per 1,000 inhabitants, report shows.
