TEHRAN, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Iran's newly-appointed Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said on Sunday that Iran will continue its defensive missile program.

Hatami made the remarks on the sidelines of the first cabinet meeting of the new administration, official IRNA news agency reported.

"We will firmly stick to our defense industry and will not allow a day of delay in defense ministry's mission," Hatami was quoted as saying.

He also said that Iran's defense program will not be affected by any kind of pressure.

The U.S. officials have said Iran's ballistic missile programs were threats to the U.S. interests in the world.

The Iranian officials unanimously called the missile tests "inalienable right" of the country to boost deterrent power.
