Bangladeshi court awards death penalty to 10 for conspiracy to assassinate PM

DHAKA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- A special tribunal in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka has handed death penalty to 10 and various jail terms to nine others for planting a 75-kg bomb for assassination of the then opposition leader and incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2000.

The bomb was recovered by police before Hasina addressed a rally.
