SUVA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Fiji on Saturday, the United States Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The quake, recorded at 2:00 p.m. local time (0200 GMT), was centred 194.4 km east of Fiji's Levuka town at a depth of 538.6 km.

Fiji lies on the so-called Pacific "Ring of Fire," an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones where continental plates collide producing frequent seismic activity.
