MINSK, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Belarus' gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 1.1 percent year on year in the first seven months of 2017, the National Statistical Committee of Belarus said on Wednesday.

Compared with the same period of that last year, the volume of industrial production in January-July 2017 grew 6 percent, and the volume of agricultural production fell 4.9 percent, the official statistics said.

Despite some lag in agriculture, the Belarusian economy has shown positive dynamics for 5 months in a row.

The Belarusian authorities expect that the GDP growth in 2017 will be 1.7 percent.

Experts from the Eurasian Development Bank forecast that this year the GDP of Belarus will increased by 1.4 percent. However, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that Belarus' GDP will decrease by 0.8 percent.

In 2016, Belarus' GDP declined by 2.6 percent.
