COPENHAGEN, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Danish brewer Carlsberg reported a 20-percent growth in operating profit for the first half of 2017 on Wednesday.

Operating profit for the first half of 2017 stood at 4.13 billion Danish kroner (650 million U.S. dollars), up 20 percent from 3.45 billion kroner for the same period last year, with all three regions delivering double-digit growth, the company said in a financial statement.

The operating profit was supported by a 200-million kroner positive currency impact that more than offset the small negative scope impact from divestment of businesses, Carlsberg added.

Net revenue for the first six months of 2017 rose 2.0 percent to 31.77 billion kroner, up from 31.24 billion kroner year-on-year.

"We delivered a strong set of results for the first half-year, improving earnings and cash flow and reducing leverage," said Carlsberg chief executive officer Cees't Hart, adding that the group was on track to deliver on its key priorities for this year.

Carlsberg maintained its full-year guidance of mid-single digit percentage growth in organic operating profit, and said it now expects a positive translation impact of around 50 million kroner against a previous forecast of 300 million. (1 U.S. dollar = 6.36 Danish kroner)
