JAKARTA, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian students were scheduled to perform the nation's UNESCO-inscribed intangible heritage traditional music instrument of angklung in Japanese cities from Aug. 24 to Aug. 30, aimed at promoting the nation's tourism.

The students would perform the angklung orchestras in Tokyo and Kanagawa respectively, to be featured with performances of Indonesian traditional dances.

Those students previously performed the angklung orchestra for the same purposes in six European countries last year.

Angklung is an Indonesian traditional music instrument constructed of bamboo tubes suspended with bamboo frame tied with rattan, and should be played in a group of players.

Angklung was inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2010.

Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya hailed the upcoming angklung concert in Japan, saying that it would highly promote Indonesia and the spirit of togetherness in the world.
