PARIS, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The suspect, who crashed a car into a pizzeria at Sept-Sorts, northeast Paris Monday evening, would have absorbed "a significant amount of drugs", according to a legal source quoted Tuesday by several French media.

A 13-year-old girl was killed in the incident and at least 12 others wounded in the crash.

According to the source, the man, aged 31, reportedly declared during his custody "to have attempted to put an end to his life" the night before the incident and he would have decided to do it again "in the same way".

His statements led the investigation into the path of suicide and rejected the statement of a terrorist act, Pierre-Henry Brandet, spokesman for the French Interior Ministry confirmed, saying that "first elements do not go into the direction of a terrorist trail and action ".

An inquiry has been opened for "voluntary homicide, attempted murder and driving under the influence of narcotics". No weapons or explosives were found in the car.
