TOKYO, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday, as investor sentiment was bolstered by Wall Street's solid performance overnight and easing concerns about current tensions on the Korean Peninsular.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 186.21 points, or 0.95 percent, from Monday to 19,723.31.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 15.39 points, or 0.96 percent, to 1,614.45.

Bank, electric appliance and securities-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes of trade.
