At least 8 feared dead after boat capsizes in Kenya's coast

LAMU, Kenya, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people are feared dead on Monday after a passenger boat heading to Kenya's Lamu capsized following heavy tides in the Indian Ocean.

Lamu County Commissioner Joseph Kanyi said one person who is a local politician was been rescued alive.

"One body has been retrieved from the boat. The boat was carrying 11 family members when it capsized within Kizingitini last night," Kanyi told Xinhua by telephone.
