MOGADISHU, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Somalia security forces on Thursday evening foiled a car bombing attack near Maka Almukarama hotel in Mogadishu, officials said.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Security, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud said a car laden with explosives targeting the hotel was successfully defused without casualties.
Mohamud said that the security forces had prior information of possible terror attack before finally cordoning off the suspected car.
"Our security forces foiled terrorist attack this evening along Maka Al-mukarama road. The security forces who had prior intelligence about the impending terrorist attack moved swiftly and defused the vehicle which had explosives," Mohamud said.
The incident took place in the area close to Waberi Police Station where several previous car bomb attacks have occurred.
