Lithuania's Kaunas airport handles more passengers

VILNIUS, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Lithuania's second largest Kaunas International Airport welcomed more passengers last month, due to relocation of flights from Vilnius Airport, data revealed on Thursday.

According to data released by Lithuanian Airports, which operates the country's three airports, 2,344 flights and more than 235,000 passengers were served at Kaunas Airport in July, compared to 724 flights and around 70,000 passengers last year.

While the number of passengers served in all three Lithuanian airports in Vilnius, Kaunas and seaside town Palanga decreased by 14 percent in July, from around 473,000 in July 2016 to 408,000 the same month this year.

Vilnius International Airport was closed on July 14 for runway reconstruction and most of the flights were diverted to Kaunas Airport. Enditem
