MADRID, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- A joint operation between Spanish National Police, Civil Guards and police from the Republic of Estonia has led to the breakup of a drug trafficking ring known as Kemerovo, the Spanish Interior Ministry said Tuesday.

The joint police operation saw a total of four arrests made simultaneously. Three were arrested in the Estonian capital of Tallinn, while the gang leader Vyacheslav Gulevich was detained in the Spanish town of Mijas, to Malaga on the south coast.

The Spanish Interior Ministry informs that Estonian authorities had been investigating the organization for around two years.

The gang is accused of various criminal activities such as drug trafficking. The search of Gulevich's property turned up documents, cash and information on computers, as well as an axe and a "large knife" which was found under Gulevich's pillow.

The Interior Ministry said a gang member belonging to a rival group of Kemerovo was detained in Reus, in north-east Spain in June. Enditem
