RABAT, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Morocco has adopted new plans to attract more international film producers, by tripling investments allocated to support foreign producers in the North African kingdom, local media reported on Monday.

According to Alyaoum24.com news site, the government decided to offer up to 10 million U.S. dollars to subsidy foreign productions in the country.

The new plan instates 20 percent cash rebate on the money spent by foreign production companies which invest over one million U.S. dollars with the productions in Morocco lasting for at least 18 days.

According to official statistics, foreign producers have invested a total of 32 million U.S. dollars in Morocco in 2016.

Morocco has seen a growing interest of filmmakers. Some 24 foreign films have been shot in the country last year, including Brad Anderson's "High Wire Act," Alexandre Moors' "The Yellow Birds" and Per Fly's "Backstabbing For Beginners."

As for local production, Morocco produces over 20 movies a year, the third biggest producer of films in Africa after Egypt and South Africa. Enditem
