UN lauds Egypt's major role in peacekeeping deployment

CAIRO, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Egypt has been ranked the third at the international level with regard to contributing to police peacekeeping forces deployed worldwide, state-run MENA news agency cited a UN source as saying Saturday.

Egypt has 729 officers and personnel task force in different countries, the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) said Saturday.

This comes as part of the vital and leading roles Egypt plays for boosting peace and stability in the world through its participation with highly-qualified and trained police troops in the UN peacekeeping missions, the DPKO said.
